More about our Indonesian Java coffee
We source our Indonesian beans from the Kayumas cooperative, whose 180 members produce coffee using a wet-hulling process unique to Indonesia. This creates a deep coffee with fruity undertones of raisin, apple and pineapple.
Kayumas members farm 2 hectares each and bring their cherries to the central cooperative during the harvest period. The cooperative is based in a remote area of Java, where rainforest cover and fertile slopes of rich volcanic soil combine to make the perfect environment for cultivating coffee, and where the farmers also plant crops, such as cloves and jackfruit, and harvest honey from wild bees to encourage economic sustainability.
